All three young musicians share a burning passion for the authentic underground death metal sound that flourished in the late 80s and early 90s, and felt compelled to give shape to a brand-new, unholy entity that would follow in the footsteps of the gods of old. Morbid Messiah played their first live show a few months later and then recorded their debut EP—fittingly titled *In the Name of True Death Metal*—which was self-released on CD in October 2016. By this time, Guillermo Lopez (bass) had joined their ranks, solidifying the lineup for their new depraved endeavors. Fast forward to April 2017, when the Polish label Godz ov War Productions released the EP on cassette; all 100 copies sold out shortly thereafter. Describing Morbid Messiah’s approach to \"metal of death\" is no arduous task, for it is nothing more—yet certainly nothing less—than a dank, impenetrable, lightless, devastating, and unadorned blend of the best, heaviest, and most vile elements from bands like Sadistic Intent, Possessed, Incantation, Grotesque, Mortem, Death, and Imprecation, as well as the sounds that defined the early works of their compatriots Cenotaph and Shub Niggurath. Bolstered by such proud and powerful influences, *Demoniac Paroxysm* lives up to its title, whipping the listener into a frenzy of putrid, sewer-dwelling obsession. Raw, abrasive, and blasted out like a boombox from the bowels of hell, this is DEATH METAL in capital letters—and that’s exactly how it should stay. Morbid Messiah is not recommended for trendy ears or the faint of heart. But if the flame burns within you, by all means, grab this torch now!
