A quiet ache rises from a most gloomy horizon.
Following the release of the Debut EP "Through the Collapse of Industrial Society" in 2023, Black Spine turns inward with the debut full length "Akeda", weaving an album steeped in fragile gloom and inward collapse.
The album was written and recorded in 2024 with as few takes as possible. The vocals were recorded in the track order in one single session, so that they become more desperate and fragile as the album goes on.
The influence of BETHLEHEM echoes in its trembling edges, as well as SHINING in its stark confessional shadows, and CURRENT 93 in the drifting, dream-torn atmospheres that linger like fading memories. The music moves with a heavy, deliberate sorrow—icy riffs and mournful melodies unfolding as if under the weight of something long unspoken.
Lyrically, Akeda is guided by suffering and betrayal, not as grand gestures but as quiet fractures—those moments when the soul slips, when trust frays, when light fails in small, devastating ways. The vocals feel less like an outburst and more like a lament, a voice carrying the residue of wounds that never fully close.
Melancholy and Bitterness define every corner of this release: contemplative, bruised, and strangely luminous in its despair. Akeda is not merely an album—it is a slow exhale in the dark, a testament to the beauty found in sorrow’s most fragile shapes.
This is the sound of something breaking—and the stillness that follows.
