It's not for nothing that the Norwegians BORKNAGAR called one of their ten studio albums 'Epic', because that's exactly what the band is known and internationally popular for: an epic, sublime, incredibly dense atmosphere that has its origins in raw, Nordic black metal and the experimental nature of prog has. Mixed again in the renowned Fascination Street Studios by Jens Bogren (Kreator, Paradise Lost, Opeth, Amon Amarth), the new material and in particular the vocal interplay between ICS Vortex (Arcturus, ex-Dimmu Borgir), Vintersorg (Cronian, Vintersorg) and Lars A. Nedland (Solefald) more impressive than ever before. The original singer and Ulver head Kristoffer Rygg aka Garm can also be heard on two tracks on the new album 'Winter Thrice'. Musically, the sextet, led by guitarist and main songwriter Øystein G. Brun, takes you into a Nordic sound cosmos supported by beguiling clear vocals, which includes harsh, black metallic outbursts with blast beats as well as folkloristic and orchestral passages and in the finale 'Terminus' even in pink - Floyd-like greatness flows. Marcelo Vasco (Slayer, Machine Head) provided the appropriate, atmospheric artwork and you can expect nothing less than non-stop goosebumps.
