Tormentum - The Wake of the Horde MCD

WHEN ALL LIGHT FADES, THE HORDE RISES!

Mexican, female fronted apocalyptic 4-piece Tormentum returns with The Wake of the Horde EP, a skullcrusing burst of Crustcore. The sound is direct: steady d-beats, rough-edged guitars, and vocals that sit deep in the mix without trying to dominate it. Drawing from the lineage of bands like EFFIGY, SWORDWIELDER, LAST LEGION ALIVE, BOLT THROWER & HELLBASTARD, Tormentum channels a familiar intensity while keeping their delivery grounded and unforced.

Across three  tracks, the band crafts an atmosphere of bleakness, doom and decay. Riffs scrape and grind, never offering relief, while the d-beats march relentlessly, creating a sense of tension that never lets up. The vocals—raw, urgent, and at times desperate—cut through the walls of noise, sounding as if they are emerging from a world already fallen apart. Even in quieter moments, a sense of foreboding lingers, making the listener feel trapped in the grime and despair that the music inhabits.

The closing track is a faithful cover of Last Legion Alive's A Black New Dawn". Tormentum honors the original song, keeping its and spirit intact while integrating it naturally into the apocalyptic flow of this EP.
